{"id":3648,"date":"2016-07-15T15:02:01","date_gmt":"2016-07-15T19:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/?page_id=3648"},"modified":"2016-07-16T19:36:21","modified_gmt":"2016-07-16T23:36:21","slug":"canadian-rockies-page-06","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/canadian-rockies-page-06\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian Rockies &#8211; Page 06"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">At Whistler Village<\/h1>\n<h2>We arrived at the Crystal Lodge in downtown Whistler around 6PM and had snacks and wine in our room for dinner.<\/h2>\n<h2>Here is an interesting picture of the location of our hotel.\u00a0\u00a0 As you can see, there are no cars in sight.\u00a0 All motor traffic is on the other side of the hotels, stores, cafes, and restuarants.\u00a0 The walkway you can see is called &#8220;The Stroll&#8221; and it&#8217;s strictly for pedestrians (and an occasional mountain bike).\u00a0\u00a0 You can also see ski\/bike trails in the distance.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/exp.cdn-hotels.com\/hotels\/1000000\/30000\/26800\/26720\/26720_251_z.jpg\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>The area in light tan on this map is the &#8220;Stroll&#8221;.\u00a0 It winds through the entire\u00a0 &#8220;Village&#8221; area (including 2 parts of the Village not shown).\u00a0 Neat concept!<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"irc_mi iC0Rh_QppHMY-pQOPx8XEepE\" src=\"http:\/\/whistlerlifestyle.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Map.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"820\" height=\"391\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We started Day 13 after a nice breakfast at the hotel, several of us decided to walk to the nearby\u00a0 <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/slcc.ca\/\">Squamish Lil&#8217;wat Cultural Center\u00a0 <\/a><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"irc_mut i6fkWY0v7e2s-HwpH6ZlgJaI\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTVgxzDIM7KQgkPw6HHugsypkFCjN36-uYS-Ph3x6Ivbvv0PUcv\" alt=\"\" width=\"592\" height=\"393\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We had a\u00a0 tour and saw a canoe made from a Cedar log.\u00a0\u00a0 The paddles are pointed so they can be used as\u00a0 weapons.\u00a0 The Western Red Cedar is an <a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"Evergreen\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Evergreen\">evergreen<\/a> <a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"Pinophyta\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pinophyta\">coniferous<\/a> <a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"Tree\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tree\">tree<\/a> in the cypress <a style=\"color: #000000;\" title=\"Family (biology)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Family_%28biology%29\">family<\/a> native to western North America. Biking shoes cost $150.00. I can&#8217;t imagine what the rest of the equipment and clothes cost.
