We started at Torremolinos with a short bus ride to Malaga. The home town of Juanjo Perez &#8211; our super trip leader.<\/h2>\n<h2>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00103.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4384\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00103.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00103.jpg 640w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00103-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2>This was our first stop : the Malaga Fortress or, in Arabic, the Alcazaba.\u00a0This fortress palace, whose name in Arabic means citadel, is one of the city&#8217;s historical monuments and is much visited because of its history and beauty.<\/h2>\n<h2>According to Arab historians, it was built between 1057 and 1063 at the instructions of Badis, King of the Berber Taifa of Granada. Transported material was used in its construction and columns, capitals and other materials were taken from the nearby Roman Theater.<\/h2>\n<h2>It was restored several times and most recently in the 20th century, and today the building and its important archaeological legacy can be visited.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01442.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4386\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01442-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01442-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01442-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01442-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>We trooped along the fortress streets, alleys, and ramparts to an old Barracks building that was now a museum.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01450.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-4388\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01450-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"853\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01450-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01450-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Inside there was a collection of mannequins wearing old military outfits. This is one of many. It also shows the Malaga Cathedral in the lower left. Note how close the ocean is to the Cathedral. Those are not medieval hotels below. However the Bull Ring is La Malagueta: The plaza de torros is real. It\u00a0 is currently owned by Fernando Puche Do\u00f1a, (former president of M\u00e1laga Football Club)<\/h2>\n<h2>The stadium seats 14,000 people and measures over 150 feet in diameter. It has four corrals, stables for the horses, a m\u00e9nage for training the horses, dressing rooms for the matadors and their assistants, an infirmary, and its own museum celebrating the history of the site and the sport.<\/h2>\n<h2>The bullfighting season runs from April to September every year. In July and August each year there is a fight almost every day. Much of the fortress was constructed from thiese ruins.\u00a0 Underlying much of the city are ancient ruins.\u00a0 People a cautious about starting a construction project for fear it may be halted by archaeologists.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01485.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4394\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01485.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"452\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01485.jpg 640w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01485-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>We&#8217;re off in our bus to a small town outside of Malaga to enjoy a &#8220;Home Hosted Lunch&#8217;. She was charmed!<\/h2>\n<h2>Others in our party gave her gifts also.\u00a0 She showed me her refridgerator. There was an area of gravelly sand between the surf line and the sandy beach that looked promising.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01530-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4403\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01530-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01530-1.jpg 480w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-01530-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>In fact, I found several nice pieces that will make a nice set of ear rings and a pendant when I get home. It was based on a painting by<i class=\"Normal-AddCart icon-cart h16-size relative t-1 m-0 icon-shopping-trolley\"><\/i>\u00a0Picasso: &#8220;Two Dancing Ladies&#8221;, one of his more famous paintings done in the 1920&#8217;s.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00104.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4408\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00104.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00104.jpg 640w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/A-00104-300x230.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Here it is. Complete with bouncing boobs!<\/h2>\n<h2>I met Bob and Sandra for dinner is a local seafood restaurant on the beach for a nice fish dinner. I had smelts, Bob had hake fish and chips, and Sandra had broiled sardines.\u00a0 All good!
