There are 120 &#8211; 2 and 4 bed cabins. The cars are on the top deck and the trucks are on the lower 2 decks. We must have had a full load of trucks because they went on first and there was a non-stop parade of them boarding before us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0413-English-Channel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-964\" alt=\"0413 English Channel\" src=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0413-English-Channel.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0413-English-Channel.jpg 640w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0413-English-Channel-300x205.jpg 300w, https:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0413-English-Channel-437x300.jpg 437w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><strong>Here is our route across the English Channel (or La Manche- as the French call it). It took about 6 hours for the crossing. \u00a0During the D Day invasion, all the Allied invasion forces (troops, trucks, tanks, etc.) crossed from many ports in England at this wide point. \u00a0It must have been a long anxious trip for the troops!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I think the Germans were expecting the invasion forces to cross from Dover to Calais. A much shorter route. \u00a0They were fooled, weren&#8217;t they!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/prstevens.stonehippo.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/0408-Norman-Voyager.jpg\"><img 2 sleeping bags so we curled up for a night&#8217;s sleep in our comfy seats. \u00a0Obviously, we didn&#8217;t have a cabin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a early the next morning (Day 3 of my visit) we breakfasted on a &#8220;Full English Breakfast&#8221;. The closest seaside resort, when coming from Paris, the city and the nearby region of the\u00a0<i><a title=\"C\u00f4te Fleurie\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/C%C3%B4te_Fleurie\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">C\u00f4te Fleurie<\/span><\/a><\/i>\u00a0(<i>Flowery Coast<\/i>) has long been home to French\u00a0<a title=\"Upper class\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Upper_class\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">high society<\/span><\/a>&#8216;s seaside houses and is often referred to as the\u00a0<i>Parisian riviera<\/i>. Since the 19th century, the town of Deauville has been a fashionable holiday resort for the international upper class.\u00a0Deauville is also a desirable family resort for the wealthy.
